I would like to thank the committee of the Welsh Dobermann Club for asking me to judge bitches at their Championship Show. I was delighted with my winners and pleased to see my 3 major winners went on to take top honours.

 

Class 12 – Minor Puppy Bitch (9 Entries)

1. Bennett’s SUPETA’S FUNKY DORY. 6½ month black/rust puppy oozing quality and showmanship. Very strong head with dark eyes and deep muzzle. Correct length of neck flowing into good shoulders, topline and tailset. This puppy had a lovely straight front assembly and turn of stifle, standing on tight catlike feet. Moved around the ring with purpose, lovely to see in one so young. Pleased to award her BP and extremely pleased to see her go BPIS.
2. Francis’ JENOVIS JUST THE ONE. 8 month brown/rust substantial puppy. A very sound youngster with a lovely head, dark eye with a good length and depth of muzzle. Short coupled, square compact body. A lovely young bitch who just lacked the ring presence of 1.

Class 13 – Puppy Bitch (11 Entries – 3 Absent)

1. Evans & Johnston’s AMAZON XQUISITE KISS. 9 month black/rust puppy. Pleasing head with dark eye and nice expression. Short, square compact girl with level topline, ample forechest and good turn of stifle. all standing on tight feet. Presented a clean, smart outline. Moved and handled well.
2. Stretton’s CHAANROSE GOSSIP PROOF AT CHAREXE. 11 month substantial black/rust puppy very similar in outline to 1. Moved OK although slightly wide in front.

Class 14 – Junior Bitch (15 Entries – 3 Absent)

1. Clare’s DAWNBRIGHT FLIRTY FLORENCE. 14 month black/rust substantial bitch. Liked her head very much, one I would say was a blunt wedge, good length and depth of muzzle, my only criticism is I would have preferred a darker eye. Excellent straight front, good depth of brisket, a little powerhouse on tight feet. A very steady mover, handled expertly.
2. Giddings & Moore’s REMESCA LALLIQUE. 12 month black/rust substantial bitch, slightly longer than 1. A pleasing head with dark eye giving alert expression. Level topline and good tailset. Straight front and good depth. Tight feet. Moved well.

Class 15 – Special Yearling Bitch (9 Entries)

1. Lack’s MONTRESTAR STIR OF ECHOES. 21 month black/rust square, elegant young lady. Lovely head with dark eye with pleasing expression. Good length and depth of muzzle. Neck flowed into well placed shoulders and level topline. Straight front and good turn of stifle, standing on tight feet. An overall clear, sharp outline. Moved OK, well handled.
2. Cox’s ZELOVIAK MISS TEEQ. 22 month black with very dark rust markings. Another elegant young lady, very similar to 1 just slightly finer in body. Pleasing head with dark eye.

Class 16 – Novice Bitch (10 Entries – 3 Absent)

1. Ingram’s JOJAVIK DANCEFLOOR DIVA. 13 month very substantial black/rust young lady. 3rd in a strong junior class. Slightly longer in body than I was looking for but with good level topline. Very strong head with dark eye.
2. Clements’ MISS PEGGY SUE AT PUCKAMAN. 14 month black/rust very feminine bitch. Pleasing head with dark eye. Finer in body than 1. Lovely length of neck flowing into level topline. Tight feet. Moved OK. VHC in junior.

Class 17 – Undergraduate Bitch (6 Entries – 1 Absent)

1. Voros’ AMAZON DIE ANOTHER DAY AT TIRALAW. 14 month black/rust well balanced young lady. All the attributes I was looking for just unfortunate to be in a very strong junior class gaining 4th place.
2. Stansbury’s WOODBRIAR SHANGHAI SILK. 14 month brown/rust young lady. A square, very substantial body with straight ample front, good level topline and balanced rear. VHC in Sp. Yearling.

Class 18 – Graduate Bitch (4 Entries – 1 Absent)

1. Le Mare’s HELMLAKE TARA TIME JW. 22 month black/rust elegant but substantial bitch. Pleasing feminine head, eye could be darker. Lovely long neck flowing into level topline and good tailset. Ample forechest with depth. Standing on tight feet. Lovely free flowing movement.
2. Wilson’s NEWTROWS NAOMI AT NIANKA. 19 month black/rust square substantial bitch. Strong head with dark eye. Another lovely bitch just missed out to the better movement of 1.
3. WOODBRIAR SHANGHAI SILK

Class 19 – Post Graduate Bitch (13 Entries – 4 Absent)

1. Hart’s HARTRIDGE LADY DOCTOR. 2½ year old substantial, standard brown/rust bitch. A very sound girl who moved exceptionally well. Good length of neck flowing in level topline. Very balanced front and back. A lovely head with dark eye and strength and depth of muzzle. Liked her very much pleased to award RCC and went on to RBIS.
2. McDaniel’s JIMBAROS COPPER ROSE AT SLINJO. 2 year old brown/rust very similar it 1 but movement not as good. Clean, sharp outline with level topline and good tailset. Sound front and rear and tight feet. Pleasing head with dark eye.

Class 20 – Limit Bitch (17 Entries – 3 Absent)

1. Bostock’s MAVSON SHANNON’S LUCK JW. 2 year old black/rust who, for me, stood out from the rest. A beautiful square, compact young lady with lovely clean outline and oozing ring presence. Not overdone in any department, ample forechest with good depth, level topline and good tailset, enough turn of stifle. Tight feet. A very pleasing feminine head, my only criticism would be I’d prefer a darker eye. Moved freely round the ring. Admired her as a young puppy and pleased to see she has fulfilled her potential and glad to award her 2nd CC with surely her crown not too far away. On the decision of the referee she went on to a well deserved BIS.
2. Wilkes’ AMAZON CHEEK TO CHEEK FOR LYNFRYDS. 2 year old black/rust bitch, very similar in outline to 1 but didn’t moved as well on the day. Again, all the attributes I was looking for but unfortunately came up against my class winner in tip top form.

Class 21 – Open Bitch (15 Entries - 4 Absent)

1. Glennon’s MARCHTAY WASSUUUP AT VEEDERHALL. 3 year brown/rust elegant standard bitch. Pleasing feminine head with dark eye and good underjaw. Level topline and good tailset, enough forechest and turn of stifle. Well handled and moved OK.
2. Brown’s ALMEIRA TIMARA JW. 2½ year old brown/rust who lost out today due to her coat condition. Slightly longer in body than 1 but one I liked a lot. Pleasing head with dark eye and good expression. Lovely long neck flowing into firm level topline. Tight feet. Overall a very sound bitch who was handled and moved well.

Class 22 – Veteran Bitch (3 Entries – 1 Absent)

1. Jeanes’ VIEMAR SIMPLY RED. 7 year old brown/rust compact sound moving bitch. Lovely to see she hasn’t changed much in her 7 years, still retains her attributes which gained her many awards in her younger years.
2. Hart’s HARTRIDGE STORM FORCE. Another 7 year old though black/rust ‘young’ lady who enjoyed her day out. Slightly longer in body to winner, lovely bitch nevertheless.
