Dog Critique 2005
Judge ALAN BROWN
The Welsh Dobermann Club held its Championship Show at Markham Leisure Centre on 17th April 2005, where B.I.S. was the dog Remesca Best Kept Secret at Mavson. My excellent stewards kept things moving very well. I was really pleased with my dogs in most classes, being able to find plenty of dogs the right size was a bonus, movement on the whole was very good as were attitudes. We do seem to have lost dogs with spirit and I was disappointed to find dogs lacking front angulation and no forechest, also the width across the front of the chest needs to be watched -far too narrow in some exhibits.
Minor Puppy (3)
1. Caffel's Doberway Chocktaw. Black and rust coming up nicely to size, head developing well, correct eye, dark in colour, tight lips, lean neck, fair angulation to shoulder, body and topline need more time. Moved ok, but tired later. B.P. Dog.
2. Stracken and Evans Mianna the One Who Dares. Black and rust, lost out in head, strong neck, shoulder ok, good body and forechest, well made quarters. Moved well.
Puppy (3)
1. Lovarin's Mezarini Desperate Dan. Black and rust. A standard sized young dog with a square body shape, excellent head and dark eye, correct ear set, well boned tight feet, short coupled, good rear angles, seemed to play handler up.
2. Card's Sibovelds Van Helsing. Black and tan, longer than I. in good development with deep muzzle. Plenty of bone, body needs time, very good quarters.

Junior (10)
1. Bevan's Knaneve Boys Night in brown and rust. High quality male with loads of substance, nice strong head, correct eye shape, dark in colour, ears well set, strong lean neck, strong square body, deep brisket, pronounced forechest, fabulous shoulder angle, well laid and equal in length, strong, slightly sloping topline, finished with a super tailset. Rear angles also correct, good width to stifle, moved out well.
2. Wilke's Lynfryds Valentino. Brown and rust, very similar in construction to 1, slightly lighter built. He has a very clean head, good eye shape, c' superb shoulder angulation, topline and tailset are faultless. Correct body shape, short coupled -another star of the future.
3. Sharp's Martifers The Joker.
Yearling (7)
1. James' Jagerson Smart Reply. Black and rust, very much how the standard reads it. Perfect in heightllength ratio. Carries an excellent head, dark eye, clean lips, lean neck, super front construction. Quality bone, deep body, short coupled, well-turned stifle.
2. Parsons Gaelic Storm. Brown and rust, fair head with an excellent eye, so dark in colour. Long lean neck, pronounced forechest, deep body, well angled front and rear, fit looking youngster with a cracking attitude. Moved well.
3. Watkins Driftlands Surf Dude.
Novice (4 )
1. Allen's Ourouse Alfie Moon at Ribans. Brown and rust standard size, head ok, eye good, correct shoulders, strong body, moved out well.
2. Caffeis Doberway Chocktaw.
3. Lovarins Mezarini Desperate Dan.
Undergrad (4 )
1. Allen's Ourouse Alfie Moon.
2. Pittendrigh Almeria Shadrack. Brown and rust standard size, good head and neck. Should come into his own with more time. Overall construction quite good, but a bit of a fidget. Moved well.
Graduate (3)
1. Evans and Rome Amazon Black Sabbath at Purroma. Black and rust standard size. Liked his head and eye, ears well-set, strong lean neck, rich tan, excellent bone, deep body, superb angles front and rear. Carries an immaculate topline, stood or moving, uses his rear very well. Front needs to tighten a little. Overall so hard to fault. RCC.
2. Barlow and Ekin Ferrero Chocolate Soldier. Brown and rust. Quality head and eye, correct ear set, well boned, longer than 11 still needs more time to develop in body. Excellent topline and tailset, well filled quarters.
3. Wood's Philmurts Special Edition.
Post Graduate (6)
1. Campbells Krieger Endurance. Brown and rust correct sized dog with excellent balance. One of the few to have elegance and substance, has a brilliant head, very dark eye, neat ears, very well angled both ends. Pronounced forechest, soundest of body's, short coupled, finished with slightly sloping topline and correct tailset. Tight feet, moved and handled well. Should do well next year.
-2. Dearings Jaegerson the Outlaw of Proform. Black and rust, similar to 1. Good head and eye, neat ears, clean lips, square deep body, correct weight, moved well.
3. Cotter and Fox Helidy's Hector at Supremacy.
Limit (14)
1. Shough's Abrodins Lesson in Love. Black and rust with a well developed head. Almond eye, correct overall size, clean neck, shoulder ok, strong body, good depth, sweeping tuck-up, strong topline, body weight just right. Moved ve:ry-we":
2. Lewis Mavson the Luck of the Irish. Similar to 1. but slightly larger. Quite strong in head, deep muzzle, almond eye, super bone, tight feet, deep body, rear angles correct. Prefer more angle in front. Moved out well.
3. Bloomfield Jenasti Spearmint Rhino.
Open (13)
1. Bostock's Remesca Best Kept Secret at Mavson. Black and rust, standard sized male of superb balance. For breed type I could find none better. Up and down he moves like a pocket battleship. His profile movement was effortless with drive and reach from a super rear and near perfect front, holding his body shape well. From head to tail this dog is the living standard. CC. B.O.B.
2. Quigley's CH Swnydwr Crimestopper. Pushed 1. hard, but had to give way, excellent head and eye, neck ok, well developed shoulder showing good angles, good bone with a deep body. Correct spring of rib, excellent topline, moved well. Handler did not get the best out of this excellent dog.
3. Burns Ashlain Last Man Standing.
Veteran (7)
1. Moore and Giddings. Black and rust, litter brother to CC winner. c; Judged him last in Junior. He won then and cruised into 1st place today. Sti" has presence, substance and a 1 st class attitude. A wonderful mover. Thanks for the privilege.
2. Howel Amazon Latin Lover. Brown and rust excellent head. No sign of age here, dark eye, strong body, very good underline with an excellent rear. Moved well.
3. Lacks Smooth Mover at Montestar.
